21-Year-Old Virgin

Mia Rose Kavensky (She/Her/Hers) is an actor/writer/producer based in NYC. She moved out here from the goooood ole’ Midwest (Iowa/Illinois border to be exact) but has the tendency to sound like a valley girl even though she grew up in the most wholesome place on earth… we’ll never understand.

She got her start in the arts when she booked the cover shoot for the American Girl Doll Christmas Catalogue (she had to profusely apologize to her rabbi for this one…) when she was 10 and then began her drama education at John Robert Powers in Chicago and was a stage actress in summer stock theatre.

She moved out to New York to work in #fashion (or was she going method to reprise Andrea from Devil's Wear Prada... we'll never know), but found herself gravitating back to her storytelling roots; studying Meisner with Raymond T. Williams (Studio4) and Sensory with Sheila Gray as well as classes through T.Schreiber and Terry Knickerbocker studios.

But MOST IMPORTANTLY, where can you find her?! Mia developed and played the title role in Rachel's Out-Of-This-World Bat Mitzvah, which was accepted into the Toronto and Winnipeg Fringe Festivals (Date TBD). Mia's recent TV/film credits include: Room 9 (Lionsgate), august at 22 (Apple TV), Astrophysics (Elizabeth Giamatti), The Home (DMZ Productions), The 21-Year-Old-Virgin (Dir. Karen Morey). Theater credits: The Girl With The Red Hair (Gene Frankel Theatre) and upcoming Reservoir Runner (Brick Theatre, Dir. Jess Barbagallo).

Mia is also an advocate for women's sexuality, pleasure and mental health. Her first short film, And Along Came Lily, premiered at Big Apple Film Festival and is now circulating festivals (Chain Theatre, NY Lift Off, GPFF). She is also in pre-production for The Key, a short about Roe V. Wade and Body Autonomy and Sorority Court, a piece about mental health in the Greek system.

When she’s not acting or writing, you can find her downward dogging in Hot Yoga, curled up with a potentially smutty fantasy novel or thrifting vintage wares.
